Bean sprouts - TonyWong - MapleRipples

Bean sprouts, germinated from mung beans after they have been left in water and light for a period of time. Bean sprouts can grow at breakneck pace, that they can grow from nothing to 7 inches in just one night. This seemingly unstoppable growth isn't really healthy for them. In fact, these fast-growing plants are very fragile in nature. A single snap can break them all.
Now
this theory applies to many aspects in life. For example, management. Once someone gets promoted, it's very likely that he would kiss up, and bottom down, and this probably leads to his separation with his coworkers. As time goes by, he gradually turns himself into an amateur, being out of the loop for too long.
What about learning? As a tutor, I saw far too many students trying to become an English master in a heartbeat. Building vocabulary, using ludicrous and unnecessary words, abusing their mother language, ranking emotional satisfaction over intellectual progress... This is just another case of bean sprouts phenomenon. All the way up and forgetting the roots.
If only there was a way to grow with the balance of pace and progress, what people can do would be counting on numbers. Trying to count the time you spend typically on something common, every day things such as reading, working, fussing... build up the positive ones and wean from the negative ones. Drinking too much coffee? 1 liter today and cut it by 5% tomorrow. Do it day by day, you'll get the spirit.
